What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are one of the most frequently performed procedures in restorative dentistry. Restorative dentistry is a field that focuses on repairing or replacing teeth that are damaged and/or missing. In the past, false teeth were the only restoration options that people had. Today, they have a number of options, including dental implants.
A dental implant is a replacement tooth root. It is usually made out of titanium alloy material.

Benefits of Dental Implants
There are many benefits of dental implants, including the prevention of other oral health problems. For example, it will be easier for you to clean between your teeth and develop other dental hygiene habits to prevent teeth and gum problems. You will never get a cavity in that tooth, your jaw bone density will be preserved, and no one will know you have dental implants because implants look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth.
Not only are dental implants and mini dental implants great for the prevention of teeth and gum problems, they can also make it easier for you to eat. You can enjoy your favorite foods without discomfort, pain, or embarrassment. Dental implants are also extremely stable because they are literally rooted into your jaw bone.
Unlike dentures, you will not have to worry about them falling out or slipping – they become part of your oral structure. The stability of dental implants is one of the many benefits that make them a great restorative dentistry option. Additionally, missing or damaged teeth can cause you to develop low self-esteem. Dental implants can improve your smile, your self-esteem and your confidence, not to mention your overall health.
Mini Dental Implants
At Brookside Dental Care, we also offer mini dental implants designed to secure a denture. Mini dental implants are an excellent choice for securing loose, ill-fitting, or unstable dentures, and the implant itself works in a similar fashion as the dental implant procedure described below.
What is the procedure for Dental Implants?
There are several steps involved in the dental implant tooth restoration procedure that we offer in Lehigh Valley. When you arrive at Brookside Dental Care, you will need to fill out paperwork that asks about your oral health and your overall general health so that we can personalize our dental services. Dr. Hadian and his team will then perform a thorough examination in order to determine whether you are a viable candidate for dental implants.
One concern is the bone density in your jaw bones – your bones must be strong and dense enough to hold the implant. After your initial exam, you will be asked to come back to have your implants placed along with temporary crowns. Once the implants fuse into the bone, which usually takes three to six months, the permanent crowns can be placed, creating a natural-looking, beautiful, and fully functioning restoration that can last a lifetime with proper care.
