Dental Veneers in Lehigh Valley, PA
Is a small chip or crack in your smile keeping you from showing off your pearly whites? At Brookside Dental Care, we have years of experience helping patients put the finishing touches to their smiles with dental veneers. Veneers are small pieces of ceramic placed over the teeth to improve their appearance. This cosmetic dental treatment can be performed as a standalone procedure or combined with another, depending on the patient’s aesthetic concerns and goals. In any case, veneers are a simple solution to a not-so-stellar smile.
When to Consider Dental Veneers
Made of composite resin, veneers can address an array of cosmetic dental concerns including small chips, cracks, stains, and misshapen teeth, and small gaps between teeth. By improving the aesthetics of the teeth, veneers can create a more uniform smile. And since veneers also cover up worn tooth enamel, they can also create a healthier looking and appealing smile. Veneers are designed to match the look and feel of your teeth, meaning you can smile confidently, knowing that your smile looks seamless and natural.
The veneer placement process typically takes two dental appointments. The procedure is virtually painless, as we apply a local anesthetic to numb the treated areas. Your comfort is of utmost important to us. If you are feeling anxious or nervous about your procedure, we can offer several sedation options to help put you at ease during your veneer procedure with us.
Your first dental visit will involve preparing your teeth for the veneer placement process. We will first remove a small amount of enamel (approximately 0.5 mm) from the surface of the treated teeth. We will then make an impression of your teeth in order to create your customized veneers. We will also use a special tooth shade guide to match the color of your veneers to that of your natural teeth. Once this is done, we will send your impressions to the dental laboratory where your veneers will be crafted. Then, we will place temporary veneers over your teeth.
In about two weeks, you will need to return to our office so we can place your permanent veneers. Before putting them in place, our team will check your veneers to make sure they are the right color and fit. Then, we will remove the temporary veneers and place the permanent ones. Your new veneers will then be bonded with an adhesive dental cement. We will check your bite and make any last minute adjustments as needed to ensure your veneers are the perfect fit.
When placed by an experienced cosmetic dentist, veneers can last for many years. Good oral health care, including brushing, flossing and visiting your dentist regularly, are also necessary to prolong the beauty and function of your veneers. We also recommend you avoid biting on hard foods and objects that can potentially crack or fracture your new veneers.
